Creator’s Block is Real.

It’s ok. You’re still dope.

One of my favorite ways to journal and pray is in Psalm format. I don’t know about you, but the type of year that I’ve had has required me to get more prescriptive with my prayers and vision for how I want to live a full, purposeful life. Through my journey, I found that I gravitate towards Psalms. Psalms are super emotional and the authors express themselves with their whole broken, faith-filled hearts.

I offer you a Psalm.

A Psalm for the Blocked Creative

Dear God,

You know my heart before I do, so this is an intimate conversation with you acknowledging what you know I need to remember every day.

While I am here, I need to use the gifts that you have blessed me with.

I need to share it with others but do so with tenderness, beginning with tenderness for self.

Tenderness for myself and then for my community.

It’s okay to take a break, but it’s not okay to give up. Lean towards discipline. It’s the way forward.

It’s okay to receive feedback, but it’s important to consume constructive criticism and guidance from real mentors. A lot of people reside in Delulu-ville, because they refuse to build mental fortitude to face reality in a healthy way. Pay attention to where people reside.

Energy attaches. Be mindful of the energy that you attract and allow into your mind and heart.

Curating your chosen family is just as critical as setting and enforcing boundaries with toxic relatives.

Breathe. Cry. Rest.

You are on a journey.

Curiosity is what fuels your creativity… be child-like.

Remember, the process of aging is only beautiful when you practice wisdom.

Don’t allow yourself to be distracted or careless because your ego is thirsty for attention.

Check that Heauxx named Ego. Regulating ego will save you from a lot of BS.

Listen more than you speak. Be a student.

Find a way to laugh until your belly hurts at least once a day.

Add to your gratitude jar as often as you feel it.

Be accountable to your heart, babe.

Enjoy the feeling of accomplishment as you rub your eyes fighting sleep. The journey is actually the moment.

When you don’t feel good, be honest about it. Ask for help from someone who can actually help.

You’re doing fine and you’re getting better with time.

Be kind to others and never stop saying thank you.

Trust your gut, Babe.

The world is chaotic. Creating amid chaos is so brave. You are brave.

It’s okay. Allow a DJ to touch your soul.

You’re still dope. Let it flow, babe.

Thank you God.  Amen.
